Invoking the Sage Coach, the sage within

We all want to be the best life coach we can be, but what does that really mean. Being accredited is one of the primary ways that you can prove that you are working to a very high standard and I will talk about accreditation in another post.

For the purpose of this post I would like to focus on how you can invoke the sage coach within whether you are a student or you have many years experience.

As coaches we invoke greatness in our clients but it is also important to bring out your own deep personal strengths as the coach. Why? Because when you bring that wise part of yourself to the session you are better informed on how to hold space for your client. You have greater presence.

This does not mean that you have all the solutions and dominate the sessions as the resident expert in someone else's life. It means there is greater quality to how you do your work.

  • What are your top 5 personal values? Are you working in alignment with them?Would you change the order of them or replace some of them?
  • Reframe where you find yourself today. Consider that you may have been trying too hard and allow yourself a moment to relax and breathe. You are human being holding space for another human being. Your client is not standing over you with an axe.
  • Leave the door open for change. There are things we can and cannot change about ourselves. We cannot change another person but we can help them become an influencer in their own lives.
  • Allow space for your future possible self to emerge. Use a vision board to build a visual of your best self.
  • Be patient. Give time and space for your client to process.
  • Set an intention everyday, to be more kind, to listen more attentively, to be more relaxed, to resist the urge to direct, to be a better human being.
  • Design a way forward. Despite the social media pressure and noise you can create a self authored path.
  • Trust your gut feeling for yourself and when you are in the room with a client. Teach your client how to build gut trust.
  • Be comfortable in your own skin. You are enough. Bring your whole self to the coaching space. Even the insecure parts. Conquer your demons.
  • Be in the present moment. Complete wellness resides there.
  • Coach in the present moment. Great insights will come to the fore.
  • Cultivate the art of listening. Say less and allow the client's personal power to unfold. Walk them through discovering what they already know.
  • Reflect each day on whether you remained in alignment with your true self, your true purpose. Journal your thoughts.
  • Expand yourself through meditation. Bring universal expansiveness into your mind, body and spirit.
  • Embody the feelings of freedom and connection to all things .

What does the divine you want? How can you live out that purpose in a real way? Take the first steps to enriching your life personally and professionally.
