In my experience, taking any problem that needs solving, outdoors brings about rapid resolution. Why is this? I think it is because we can get literally locked in when we are in our place of work. We are physically confined for the majority of our day to our work station. The air is thick with other people feeling the same way. Even if we work from home, as I do, we can feel restricted. Our thoughts become stagnant.
There is the physical restriction and the mental and emotional restriction. If we don't switch things up the air gets stale, we get stale and ultimately our creative abilities run dry. Stress levels rise and out health is adversely affected. By stepping outside even for a few minutes, we immediately feel that sense of relief and expansion. Getting some fresh air, taking a walk in a park during our lunch break or surrounding ourselves with plants that bring nature into us, all can nurture our wellbeing.
Why not take things to a new level? Outdoor coaching sessions work in parallel with nature. Nature allows the client to relax, feel safe, let go of stress in the moment and consider new possibilities. Conversations naturally unfold and have great depth. Greater insights come to the fore as nature informs the client.
The coach may even just walk in silence and allow the client immerse themselves and have their own unique experience. This can be a gift to many people whose lives are very busy but also if their mind feels over run with thoughts.
A skilled coach can organically raise awareness of natural metaphors and allow the client to draw their own conclusions.
Time for reflection along the way allows the client to integrate the learnings for them, hear a call to action and explore the greater possibilities in their day to day lives.
This space also offers connection to the higher self and by fully embodying this connection to nature clients become acutely aware of their connection to the wider ecosystem. It leads to feelings of abundance, joy and gratitude.
So try to schedule some time outside in nature during your working day this week. Journal your experiences. What is the message that is being communicated to you? What do you want to do about it? When would you like to start?
